JANE M. GROTE

CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT OF COUNCIL

I am running for re-election as President of the Norwood City Council. I am completing my eighth term as President of Council, having served in that position from 1986 -1989 and then from 1998 to the present. I also served as Clerk of Council for seven years between my terms as President of Council.

I am 57 years old, born and raised in Norwood. I graduated with a B.A. magna cum laude in Political Science from the University of Dayton and received my J.D.degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School. I was admitted to the practice of law in Ohio in 1976. I have my own law office in downtown Cincinnati, where I practice primarily in the area of Family Law.

I am chair of the Pace Telecommunications Center Board (Norwood Community Television), President of the Norwood Fireworks Committee, and Treasurer of the Norwood Business and Professional Women’s Club, where I also serve as Treasurer of the Norwood Day Committee. I am a member of the Hamilton County and Norwood Republican Clubs. I am active with Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where I am Chair of the Finance Commission and serve as a lector, Eucharistic minister and on the Wedding and Worship Committees. I am a past Board member of the Norwood Service League.

In my twenty-three years of public service, I have seen Norwood change from an industrial city to one whose economy is based more on retail and offices. I am excited by the restoration of many of the city’s homes to their original elegance. Norwood today is an exciting place to live. I hope to have the opportunity of continuing to serve the residents of the City of Norwood as President of Council.
