Steve Thornbury
Councilman Ward 2
It has truly been an honor to serve the people of Norwood for the past two years as your Council representative for the 2nd Ward. In that time I’ve had the pleasure of meeting dozens of residents who have contacted me with different questions and concerns. I have tried to answer your calls promptly and provide clear, straightforward answers.
As a member of Council’s Parks and Recreation Committee, I urged citizens to make their voices known regarding the decision last year to close the pool at Burwood Park. As a result, public officials listened and actually reversed their decision. As a result, we not only kept the pool open, we’ve been able to dramatically improve Burwood Park here in Ward 2.
As a member of the Streets and Infrastructure Committee I took it upon myself to keep the citizens informed by circulating the list of projects for the 2009 Street Repair Program together with details about which streets will receive what level of work.
And when rumors began to surface about the fate of the Norwood Health Department, I took the lead during Council meetings to bring the issue to the public’s attention and reach a quick and positive resolution.
As Ward Chair of the Norwood Republican Party, I spearheaded the effort to recruit and select a new Auditor to fill the then-vacant position. As a result, Norwood City Auditor Jim Stith has stepped forward and transformed the Auditor’s office into a model for how good government operates. His efforts have clearly earned him your vote this November. Your vote can help keep Norwood moving in this positive direction.
That’s why I am asking you to please vote to re-elect Steve Thornbury to Norwood City Council, Ward 2. If I can be of any assistance, feel free to call me on my cell at 373-9653.
Asking the right questions.
Insisting on clear answers.
Respecting other’s views.
That’s how government should work.
